1981

In June  the Horseshoe  Bar closed down and the club moved to the Birds in Halmergate. 'The first guests there were the Ratliffe Stout Band and their van broke down in the car park of the pub. All during their set you could hear the AA man talking on his radio, being picked up by their PA' (John Sykes). This year was the first venture into organising ceilidhs with the first appearance of the Ashton Skipper band at West Pinchbeck Village Hall.  The old hall had open  fireplaces on three sides of the room with huge log fires which can't have been in line with safety regulations but made for a fantastic atmosphere at the ceilidh. Nic Jones made a memorable appearance at the Birds in Dec of this year, all the more so for being just a few weeks before his tragic accident in Feb 1982.
